Zionsville — After a more than three-month delay, the Indiana Department of Education released 2013 ISTEP+ scores on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
ZCS students scored well above the state average, with 92.7 percent passing the ELA portion and 96.3 percent passing the math portion of the test.
“We have three factors that cause us to do so well on ISTEP,” said ZCS Superintendent Scott Robison.
Those factors are great parents, expert teachers and hard-working students, he explained.
“Our parents are very committed to educational attainment,” Robison said, explaining that having parents who advocate for their children’s education from an early age is key. “The second piece is matching that up with the teaching staff and with a guaranteed curriculum that really moves kids forward and helps ensure that they maximize all that talent they bring to us.”
The third piece of the equation, the superintendent said, is the students themselves.
“The kids work very hard here,” he said. “The outcomes are a testament to how these three things sit in alignment.”
Throughout the county. 75.1 percent of test-takers in Lebanon Community School Corp. passed both portions this year, 82 percent in the Western Boone Community School Corp.
