— Several residents of Worth Township are concerned a proposed merger with Whitestown will mean they aren’t receiving the same level of service they now receive from Boone County agencies.
A referendum asking for approval of the proposal will be on the Nov. 6 general election ballot, Boone County Clerk Penny Bogan said.
The question will be phrased, “Shall the Town of Whitestown and Worth Township reorganize as a single political subdivision?”
Liz Hoover and Denise Lisle are two of the rural residents who are concerned about the proposal. Both live in the area of County Road 500 South, in the southeastern corner of Worth Township.
Residents of that area bordered by County Road 650 West on the west and County Road 800 West on the east, north of County Road 500 South, believed the reorganization plan “had gone away,” until they saw an article in a local newspaper.
