  • Legion gains peace of mind with parking lot purchase The Whitestown American Legion Post No. 410 hopes to be part of the town's core for years to come. It's a step closer with the Whitestown Town Council approval Tuesday night, Aug. 12, to put a parking lot up for public auction across the street from the Legion's building, as the post will buy for its members. The Legion members were worried about parking since the path of the Farm Heritage Trail, which bisects downtown Whitestown, runs directly behind the post and would eliminate the existing parking.

  • NWS ZT082014 Creek Cleanup pic Eagle Creek cleanup is about stewardship For 30 years, Todd Settle waded his way through Eagle Creek to fish. Last year, he wanted to do something about all the debris he was seeing floating through the town's waterway. Settle led a group of 40 other residents and volunteers to clean out 2,600 pounds of debris last year and hopes to get even more debris out of the creek this year. Settle is organizing a creek cleanup for Saturday, Sept. 13, with a focus on the stretch of Eagle Creek from Elm Street Green to Turkey Foot Park.

  • Bullying legislation backs ZCS policy In 2013, the Indiana Legislature put into effect laws that define bullying and lay out procedures to which schools must comply to. Zionsville Community Schools had policies and procedures in place before the law was passed, but according to administrators, the legislation reinforces their efforts.
