---- — Buckingham Companies has come forward hoping to develop the former Citgo site on the corner of Main and Sycamore streets.
Bo Leffel, of Cassidy Turley, said two weeks ago the latest plans he saw for the site were for a “high-end, mixed-use development.”
At that time, Leffel was not able to disclose the name of the developer, but Buckingham has issued a statement saying they hope to develop the parcel.
Scott Travis, Buckingham senior development executive, said the company is “exploring a mixed-use development project on several acres near downtown Zionsville, including the former Citgo property.”
“At this point, Buckingham is gathering information about municipal and regulatory approvals needed to move forward and engaging both internal and community stakeholders to formulate a project that effectuates the best of village infill redevelopment,” he said in the statement. “Buckingham intends to bring its breadth of experience and reputation for quality and success and achieve multiple stakeholder goals for this unique real estate redevelopment opportunity.”
Buckingham declined to comment further than what was provided in the statement.
Buckingham has developed several mixed-use developments including CityWay in downtown Indianapolis and The Cole in Columbus.
