One killed in seven vehicle crash

Indianapolis — Keitra Annette Smith, 28, of Marion County, in foreground died after being first struck by the one-tone stake truck in background, about 7:45 a.m. Monday on Interstate 65 just south of the Indiana 267 interchange.

All three lanes going north on the interstate were closed for approximately three hours.

Among officers who responded were Boone County Sheriff’s Office Major Mike Nielsen (left) and Major Tony Harris (right). The initial report was taken by the Whitestown Police Department; WPD Chief Dennis Anderson said two persons in another vehicle were taken to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries.
