Top 5: Stein, Burgess elected to school board

Zionsville — Voters made a split decision during the Nov. 6 Zionsville Community School Board of Trustees general election races.

One candidate from each slate was named to the board, including incumbent Jane Burgess, who will serve a second term, and new member Joe Stein, who knocked out 20-year member and president Robert Wingerter.

For the Union Township race, Stein received 56 percent (6,463) of the votes with Wingerter receiving 44 percent (5,159).

“It’s been a long hard race,” Stein said Nov. 6. “I look forward to serving the community alongside her (Burgess) and the remaining board members.”

Stein  congratulated Wingerter on his years of service, as well as Jane Burgess on a well run campaign.
