Mary Griffin, 5, left, watches as Matz Reitz, 7, decorates a gingerbread man at the Sullivan Museum Saturday, Nov. 4. More than 60 people attended a gingerbread house decorating workshop at the museum to prepare for the holiday season and the P.H. Sullivan Museum Guild’s Gingerbread Houses on Parade contest.

The contest averages about 50 gingerbread entries annually, said Pat Fox, chairwoman of the Gingerbread Houses on Parade committee.

This year’s competition will have four categories — houses, buildings, non-traditional and historical — and there is a possibility of 72 entries receiving awards for placing, Fox said.

Entries for the competition will be accepted from Tuesday, Nov. 28, until 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30. Judging will be on Friday, Dec. 1. The winners will be announced at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, to coincide with Christmas in the Village.
