The third annual Zionsville Police Department’s Teen Academy has 16 participants, which was June 13 to 17. The teen’s had instruction in such topics as positive decision making, firearms, physical tactics, traffic stops, building searches, drug and alcohol use, the Boone County Special Response Team, and had tours of the police department, Zionsville Fire Department and the Boone County Jail. The drill instructors for this year’s academy were officers Sam Dennemann and Drake Sterling. The department partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Zionsville to sponsor the event. The academy was funded by a grant from the Local Coordinating Council of the Governors Drug Free Community Fund. Pictured are drill instructors and participants.
