Carol E. Uebelhack
1916-2008
Carol Elizabeth (Bain) Uebelhack, a lifelong resident of Indiana, died Sept. 8, 2008, at Hoosier Village Retirement Center in Indianapolis after a long illness.
Born in Waynetown Sept. 19, 1916, she was the daughter of William Hedley Bain and Lavinia Brady Bain.
For many years Mrs. Uebelhack was employed by the Connecticut General Life Insurance Association, becoming the company’s first female claims adjuster and office manager. Later, she worked for several years at the Naval Avionics Facility patent office. Mrs. Uebelhack was an active gardener and was deeply concerned about animal welfare. Her other serious interests were bridge and competition ballroom dancing. She was also a member of Carmel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a son, the Rev. Robert Carroll Walters of Worcester, Mass.; two grandchildren, Craine Carroll Walters of Jackson, Mich., and Jo Ann Bachand of Charlton, Mass.; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 1525 Mulberry St., Zionsville. There will be no calling hours.
