Daniel A. Parks

Daniel Albert Parks died Thursday, Feb. 27, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born in Lebanon on Sept. 7, 1938, a son to Albert Seth Parks Jr. and T. Hortense (Routh) Parks. Raised in Boone County, Dan graduated from Whitestown High School in 1956 and later attended Purdue University. He was a grain and livestock farmer, raising Polled Herefords.

On Feb. 14, 1960, he was married to Colleen R. (Powner) Parks in Indianapolis. After 54 loving years together, Mrs. Parks survives.

Dan was a devoted and compassionate man who deeply loved and cared for his family. He enjoyed his daughter’s and his grandchildren’s activities as they grew. He took great pride in his John Deere collection, both large and small.

He was a member of Zionsville Christian Church, Boone County Antique Tractor Club, Feeders and Breeders Association, Boone County 4-H Clubs Fair Board and Council, Celestial Lodge No. 525, Scottish Rite, Eastern Star No. 248, Boone Mutual Insurance Board of Directors and Mts. Runn Cemetery Board.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Deanna Hart (Rene); brother, Tom Parks (Sharon); sister, Edith Jordan (Bill); brother-in-law, Larry Powner (Gale); grandchildren, Levi Lewis (Megan) and Sarah Hoopingarner (Rob); stepgrandchildren, Gwen O'Malley (Tim) and Kirsten Liden (Toby); great-grandchildren, R.J. Hoopingarner, Luke Lewis, Nora Liden, Grace O'Malley; and several nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by grandson Kyle Lewis.

Funeral services are planned for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at the funeral home in Lebanon, with Masonic Rites beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Interment will follow services at Mts. Runn Cemetery in rural Zionsville.
