Lowell Kilgus

Lowell Kilgus, 68, of Arcadia, passed away Oct. 19, 2013.

Lowell was born April 26, 1945, in Sterling, Ill., to Christian and Ruth (Schlough) Kilgus. He began his career as a high school physics and math teacher. He moved on, taking a position as an engineer and worked his way up to become the highly-respected president of Mallory Controls in Indianapolis.

He was an active participant and faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church. He loved to play golf, especially the day he got a hole in one. He was an amazing builder, helped with Habitat for Humanity Homes, and loved doing building projects with and for his grandchildren. Lowell had a great appreciation for the beauty of nature and a true love of animals — especially dogs.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Margie Kilgus; daughter, Kirsten (Mark) Sidelnyk; son, Jeremy (Denise) Kilgus; sister, Ruth (Fred) Overdier; brother, Walter (Joann) Kilgus; and grandchildren, Jaymin, Nathan, Samantha and Shane. Lowell is also survived by six nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Christ Church The Lutheran Church of Zionsville, 600 N. Ford Road.

Memorial contributions in Lowell’s honor may be made to Christ Church The Lutheran Church of Zionsville or The American Heart Association.
