Lowell Kilgus, 68, of Arcadia, passed away Oct. 19, 2013.
Lowell was born April 26, 1945, in Sterling, Ill., to Christian and Ruth (Schlough) Kilgus. He began his career as a high school physics and math teacher. He moved on, taking a position as an engineer and worked his way up to become the highly-respected president of Mallory Controls in Indianapolis.
He was an active participant and faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church. He loved to play golf, especially the day he got a hole in one. He was an amazing builder, helped with Habitat for Humanity Homes, and loved doing building projects with and for his grandchildren. Lowell had a great appreciation for the beauty of nature and a true love of animals — especially dogs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Margie Kilgus; daughter, Kirsten (Mark) Sidelnyk; son, Jeremy (Denise) Kilgus; sister, Ruth (Fred) Overdier; brother, Walter (Joann) Kilgus; and grandchildren, Jaymin, Nathan, Samantha and Shane. Lowell is also survived by six nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Christ Church The Lutheran Church of Zionsville, 600 N. Ford Road.
