Helen Elizabeth Steinmetz
Helen Elizabeth (Morgan) Steinmetz, 84, of Fowler, died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Hooverwood, in Indianapolis.
Helen was born on Nov. 16, 1929, in Brownsville, Texas. She grew up in Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School. She moved to Fowler and was married to Robert (Steiny) Steinmetz for 58 years. Robert preceded her in death in July 2010.
Helen worked for many years in the Benton County Courthouse, for Circuit Judge Perry Shipman and several county clerks. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her children, John (Liza) Steinmetz of Falls Village, Conn., Susie (Allan) Rachles of Zionsville, Sara (David) Tennery of Atlanta, and Jackie Steinmetz of Fowler; grandchildren, Otto Steinmetz, Sara Rachles, Alex and Paige Burgett, Katie (Brett) Kult, John (Kayla) Gretencord and Jake Gretencord; her brother, Ralph Wilber Morgan of Castro Valley, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fowler. Friends may greet the family from 10 a.m. until time of service.
