Cora Turley

Cora E. (Templin) Turley, 88, of Zionsville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on May 25, 2014.

Cora was born on Oct. 13, 1925, in Eagle Village to Frank and Dorothy Templin, of Zionsville. She was a 1943 graduate of Eagle Township High School. On Feb. 26, 1947, she married Meredith L. Turley in Zionsville.

She was a member of Zionsville United Methodist Church, an auxiliary member of Psi Iota Xi sorority, a member of the Zionsville Woman’s Club and a 50-year member of the Eastern Star. She worked at Pitman-Moore, Harold’s Haberdashery, and spent her life caring for her family as she was a loving and dedicated mother to her children and grandchildren.

She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, going to lunch with ‘The Lunch Bunch’ and volunteering for Hug-A-Pillow. She was extremely kind-hearted, thoughtful, loving and charitable with her time and resources. Cora was very welcoming and had a friendly smile for everyone she met. She had a unique sense of humor and was quite a character. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sports and activities. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons, Rick (Karen) Turley, of Whitestown, and Rod (Maranda) Turley of Prescott Valley, Arizona; two daughters, Tamra Turley (family friend Anita Gagnon), of Zionsville, and Kim (John) Minnich, of Zionsville; grandchildren, Matthew Turley, of Zionsville, Lori Turley, of Rockford, Illinois, Margo and Cooper Minnich, both of Zionsville; sisters, Jean Engledow and Doris Bennett, both of West Palm Beach, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Cora was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Her family would like to send a special thank you to many individuals for their care, concern and support during the last several years.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 30, and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Zionsville United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at the church, with Rev. Linda Johnson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Cora’s honor may be made to Zionsville United Methodist Church or Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the church.
