James L. Beasley, 86, a resident of Hoosier Village, formerly of Mooresville and Plainfield, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012. James was born May 13, 1925, in Mooresville, to the late Virgil and Bessie Mae (Head) Beasley.
He graduated from Mooresville High School and proudly served in the Army Air Corp during World War II as a navigator on B-24 planes. He retired from the Allison Division of General Motors in 1980. Always staying busy, James worked in his retirement years for National Car Sales as a courier. He was a faithful member of the Plainfield Christian Church and the Plainfield Elks Club. He enjoyed all kinds of sports, but was especially fond of golf.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosemary (Hurt) Beasley; one son, James Bruce Bailey; brothers, Robert and Paul “Bud” Beasley.
He is survived by one daughter, Cheryl (John) Grimme of Zionsville; sisters, Betty Beasley and Peggy May, both of Mooresville; grandchildren, John Tyson (Nichole) Grimme and Lauren Elizabeth Grimme; great-grandchildren, Amaris Grimme and Zoe Nichole Grimme.
Friends and family gathered Sunday, Feb. 19, at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service was Monday, Feb. 20, in the Plainfield Christian Church. Entombment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.
