Bobbi Kennison

Zionsville — Bobetta (Bobbi) Brown Clossey Kennison left this world to join our Savior on May 25, losing her battle with bone cancer after surviving breast cancer for 33 years.

She was born to Russell and Sybil Brown on June 24, 1930. She leaves behind two wonderful daughters Kitty (Jim) Ray and Lonnie (Ed) Gilliland; two grandchildren, Daphne Johnson (Chuck) and Jason Gilliland (Kassi); four great-grandchildren, Amber and Charles Johnson and Nickolas and Riley Jo Gilliland; her sister, Kathy Acton (Ron); brother, Tom Brown (Mercee); stepdaughters, Myrna Webster of Navarre, Fla.. her four sons and six great-grandchildren, Nikki (Dave) Anderson of Topeka, Kan., and their three children and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Sybil Foscardo, her father Russell Brown, her beloved stepmother Myrtle Brown, brother Bill Brown and her beloved husband Nick Kennison.

She was raised from the age of eight by Myrtle Brown, her beloved stepmother. She was a secretary for Owen M. Mullin for 30 years, and for 19 years she had been employed by Chuck Keenan. The last two years she worked for Zionsville Community Schools as a lunchroom monitor at Pleasant View Elementary. She started working at the age of 15 and later raised her two daughters for several years by herself. She loved to sew, and yard work was her passion.

She had a little adventurous streak in her, and when she was 74 years young, she had a rose tattoo on her left ankle, and at the age of 78, for her birthday, she went skydiving. She was a member of the Bridgeport Eastern Star for many years. She loved to be around little children and always had a smile for everyone. For many years she participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Her family would like to thank her oncologist, Dr. Sridhar Bolla, and staff for all their help and kindness these last four years. We would also like to thank all the staff at Gentiva Rehabilitation and Hospice Care.

Per our mother’s request, there will be no calling or service at this time. She donated her body to the IU Medical Center for the advancement of medical education.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Disabled American Veterans.
