Zionsville Times Sentinel
---- — Last week while browsing the toy aisle with Youngest, we came across a Barbie that made me cringe and my daughter exclaim, “Oh, cool!” It wasn’t the doll that was the source of our reactions, but the defecating dog that accompanied her in the box. This dog came complete with brown plastic doodles to scoop up and place in the plastic baggie. The difference between my reaction and that of my daughter got me to thinking about things I loved as a kid that I no longer like. One thing I used to love and no longer enjoy is spinning around until I get so dizzy I fall down. I used to do that for extended periods of time in the yard, loving the way it felt to have the world tilt. Now if I get dizzy I worry that I am having a stroke. Another thing I loved as a kid that I no longer find enjoyable is playing in the rain. I wasn’t allowed to do it very often, but on occasion Mom let my brother and me stay outside in the summer if a light shower happened by. I can truly say that I frolicked in the rain. It was spectacular. Now I avoid rain like kids avoid bedtime. See Wednesday's Times Sentinel for the full story.
