Zionsville Times Sentinel
---- — People draw inspiration from many sources; it probably would come as no surprise to anyone who knows me that one of my sources is music lyrics.
Although the instrumental part of a song generally catches my attention first, I eventually hone in on lyrics that I find relevant, motivational or just plain intriguing. Rock lyrics were often a topic of conversation in my last newsroom, and I have a friend who regularly texts me lyrics that are meaningful to him, so I know I'm not the only one engaged by lyrics.
Take The Beatles song, "Revolution" -- I'm a pacifist, so those lyrics really speak to me and give me hope others will hear the message. "We all want to change the world, but when you talk about destruction, don't you know you can count me out" and "You ask me for a contribution, well you know we're all doing what we can, but if you want money for people with minds that hate, all I can tell you is brother you have to wait" are a couple of my favorite lines.
