My kids give me grief over my time spent on Facebook.
When I count the time checking messages on Twitter and FB while enjoying my morning coffee or evening wine, it's probably not any more than my Dad spent reading his newspaper, which was delivered to our porch morning and evening. He got his fresh news only twice a day from one local paper. I get ongoing, updated news from the several dozen sources that I follow anytime I check in.
Plus, it's my social hangout keeping me connected to friends and acquaintances I might otherwise miss. Moreover, I've found it to be a sort of life coach for me. By "liking" and "following" several favored people/groups/sites, I receive motivating messages that help keep me on track -- as well as filling my refrigerator with colorful memes. These are some of my favorite inspirational Tweets and Facebook quotes.
