I visited Castleton Square Mall last week for the first time in well over two years, maybe three.
It was my first time in any of the grand shopping malls since the middle of the great recession. I was there for a specific gift at a specific store. Their online website had clued me in that there were still a few left in inventory. I picked up the item and one other while traversing the store. Mission accomplished.
What surprised me was the intense sensation as I entered the mall proper and became surrounded by dozens of stores. My steps quickened with my head a-swivel. I could actually hear my breathing getting faster as I walked past perfume, purses, sweaters and shoes, not to mention cases of jewelry. The shock to me was that I felt like a drunk in a liquor store; I wanted a bit of everything.
