A strange wind has blown into the Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre and brought with it practically perfect in every way "Mary Poppins the Broadway Musical."
The show, which opened May 15, runs through June 29. Poppins is the B&B's family offering this season and delivers on its promise of a magical evening for the entire family.
The cast is led by Cara Statham Serber as Mary Poppins, and she was wonderful. An interesting side note to her flawless performance is that, like Julie Andrews on film, Serber has been both Maria in "The Sound of Music" and the beloved nanny in "Mary Poppins" at the Beef & Boards.
Pittsboro native Buddy Reeder stars as the affable Bert. You may remember that he was the magic behind the choreography in "CATS" earlier this season. It turns out he is equally capable of being on the stage as behind the scenes. The stage version gives us a lot more Bert time than the movie version, and it was a welcome change.
