Thankful for comfy pants

---- — With the holiday season fully kicked off and running, I think it is high time to pay my respects to the most humble of pants, comfy pants.

Because I am kind of a weirdo and prone to outside-normal-limits thinking, I did an Internet search to see if anyone else knows about comfy pants. My search turned up more than 6 million hits, including a Facebook page, so I may be an odd bird, but clearly am not alone in my love affair with comfy pants.

Comfy pants come in all shapes and sizes, and I honestly don’t remember my first pair, but I think it was probably little summer pajama pants. Summer pajamas were a super lightweight cotton fabric that you could barely feel on your skin. My first pair of honest-to-goodness comfy pants was gray sweatpants of the elastic-around-the-ankle variety. Those things were completely unflattering, with the saggy rear end, but we logged many happy, relaxing hours together.
