Take the upward spiral toward awesome

— We’re all familiar with the downward spiral and the strong negativity associated with it. Well, there’s another spiral that I believe is stronger.

Those choosing to improve their physical condition and those who are not caring for themselves have a very similar pattern in their lives. While the paths are in the opposite directions, look for the similarity in the compounding effects each has.

Downward Spiral

People in a deteriorating condition are in a tricky, compounding position. As your fitness and health deteriorate, the factors that affect your well-being compound on each other, creating a very powerful downward spiral that hits an individual physically but also on many other levels.

Here is an example:

• You stop monitoring your food intake …

• so you gain weight ...

• so your energy level drops ...

• so you become less active ...

• so your weight increases more …

• so your knees hurt …

• so you become less active …

• so your cardiovascular health declines …

• so your risk factors go up …

• so your insurance premiums go up …

• so you eat because you are mad or feel sorry for yourself …

• so your weight increases …

• and on and on …
