Indiana State Sen. Jim Buck (R-Kokomo) recently welcomed Zionsville Middle School students Hunter Kearney and William Gallagher to the Indiana Statehouse as legislative pages.
Kearneyis the son of A. Bryan and Mirelia Kearney, and Gallagher is the son of Heather Essex-Gallagher.
“Pages receive a birds-eye view of their state government,” Buck said. “By spending the day in the Statehouse, they have the opportunity to witness the legislative process, helping them learn about Indiana’s government firsthand.”
Pages learn about Indiana’s state government through observation and participation. Throughout their experiences, pages interact with senators, sit in on floor proceedings and hand-deliver important messages during session. In addition, students listen to discussion about bills and resolutions while watching senators vote on legislation.
