Zionsville track takes Greensburg Invitational

The Zionsville boys track team won the Greensburg Invitational over five other teams, Satruday, April 26. The Eagles finished at 158, with Pendalton Heights in second at 123. Greenfield-Central scored 84 points, Shelbyville scored 65, host Greensburg scored 47, and Oldenburg Academy was sixth at 16 points.
The 3,200-meter relay team of Travis Stauffer, Chad James, Morgan Stehr, and Alex Kovach started the day off well with a win at 8:44.0. Then in the 110-meter hurdles, Shane Mikesky took first at 15.0, and Solomon Ervin took sixth place.
Dano Mattingly won the 400-meter dash at 52.6 seconds, and Ryan Dickson came in second. Mikesky won the 300-meter hurdles at 41.6 seconds with Ervin finishing in fifth.
Melvin Woodard came in first in the 200-meter dash at 22.9 seconds, and Stauffer finished second. Dylan Sorensen was victorious in the 3200-meter run (10:02.3), and Ryan Kelly placed fifth. Then, the 1600-meter relay team of Dickson, Stauffer, Mattingly, and Mikesky finished first at 3:33.8.
Nick Wisnewski won the shot put event at 47’5”. Tyler Mantel won the pole vault at 13’0”, and Cody Biddle placed fifth.
In the 100-meter dash, Michael Hegeman came in fourth, and Michael Rice finished sixth. In the 1600-meter run, Kevin McCarthy finished second with Spencer Liechty taking sixth. McCarthy then finished runner-up in the 800-meter run with Kovach taking third.
In the long jump, Jared Gough came in second with Stauffer finishing fourth. Adam Wertz finished sixth in the high jump, and Caleb Reiff was fourth in the discus.
april 22 vs. fishers
The Zionsville track and field teams each won a conference meet against Fishers, April 22. The Lady Eagles won 78-54, while the boys beat the Tigers 68-64.
The girls team had 11 first-place finishers. In the 800-meter relay, the team of Frannie Einterz, Amanda Regele, Kelly Miller, and Caitlin Engel picked up the first win of the afternoon (10:21).
Hadley Stuart won the 100-meter hurdles at 17.01 seconds. Carrie Bostwick took the 100-meter dash (13.03), and Cara Haselrig finished second. Katie Conrad won the 1600-meter run (5:21), and Calesse Cardosi was runner-up. The 100-meter relay team of Bostwick, Erin Goode, Rachel Booze, and Haselrig continued the Lady Eagles’ relay success with another win at 51.0.
Stuart picked up another hurdles win in the 300-meter (49.22). In the 800-meter run, Engel finished first (2:24), Regele finished second, and Hannah Maher finished third. Cara Conflenti then won the 3200-meter run at 12:16.92.
The 400-meter relay team of Engel, Lauren Pifer, Stuart, and Bostwick came in first (4:08.72). Pifer then won the high jump at 4’10”, while Erica Williams took second place. In the discus, Kelly Coval finished first at 94’, and Emma Tokar came in third.
Pifer picked up a second-place finish in the 400-meter run. Goode came in second int he 200-meter dash, and Booze finished third.
In the long jump, Miller took second and Stuart was third. Coval then took third in the shot put.
For the boys, nine Eagles finished first. In the 110-meter hurdles, Shane Mikesky took first at 15.26 seconds, and Solomon Ervin came in second.
“We had several athletes step up and score points for us,” Zionsville boys coach Gabe Porras said. “We are continuing to progress and go in the right direction.”
The 400-meter relay team of Melvin Woodard, Michael Rice, Michael Hegeman, and Cole Chapman took first place at 44.83. In the 400-meter dash, Ryan Dickson finished first at 52.53. Mikesky picked up another win in the 300-meter hurdles, and Ervin came in third. Kevin McCarthy then won the 800-meter run at 1:59.67.
The 1600-meter relay team of Dickson, Chad James, Dano Mattingly, and Shane Mikesky came in first place at 3:29.22. Jared Gough won the long jump at 19’11”, and Austin Stauffer was the runner up.
Nick Wisnewski won the shot put at 45’10.5”, and Caleb Collier finished third. Collier got his own win in the discus at 126’9.5”, and Caleb Reiff was third.
Chapman got a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash, and McCarthy finished third in the 1600-meter run. Woodard took second in the 200-meter dash, and Stauffer came in third. In the high jump Jack Denton finished second, and Chapman came in third place. Tyler Mantel was the runner-up in the pole vault, and Cody Biddle finished third.
