ZLL 2010 showcase registration now offered

Zionsville Little League is upgrading the Showcase program for 2010. Teams will be formed this month with additional skills opportunities available in the fall and winter. Registration for Showcase baseball runs June 22 through July 25. Evaluations/ tryouts are scheduled for July 23, 24, 25, 31 and August 1 at Lions Park. Additional registration and evaluations will be available in the spring.

ZLL Showcase Baseball is an excellent development experience for the player with high level of baseball interest and more advanced skills, along with parents committed to support this interest, will not conflict with recreational season practices or games, a season of games played against teams from other communities throughout central Indiana, requires additional practice dates to learn advanced game situation skills, typically scheduled to play games on Sunday afternoons and evenings from late April through June, or on weekends when the ZLL recreation teams are not scheduled to play, is self-funding, thus requires an additional fee above league registration and is advanced learning and instruction oriented in a competitive play environment.

ZLL Showcase Baseball is not a guarantee to play on post-season All-Star teams, as All-Star teams are selected based on player performance and attitude during recreation season play, along with tournament availability.

ZLL Showcase baseball intends to accommodate as many players as there is interest. If interest at any age level greatly exceeds reasonable roster sizes, then multiple teams will be created. Tryouts and evaluations will be necessary for roster selection. Try-out dates are scheduled in anticipation of a need to select teams and are listed on the ZLL Web site. Team selection is made by independent evaluations. Managers for teams are named after teams are selected.

Showcase baseball is available for baseball players in Zionsville Little League, ages 7-12. Registration is $250 to cover 2010 rec league registration fees plus Showcase expense for uniforms (jersey/pants/hat/belt/socks), insurance, baseballs and umpires. Optional clinics and professional skills development will be available for an additional fee.
