The first annual Azionaqua children’s triathlon was held on the Fourth of July and included 32 kids, ages 7 to 13. The swim was held at the Azionaqua 50-meter outdoor facility located on Willow Road with the biking and running winding around the surrounding subdivisions.
The distances ranged from a 100-meter swim, 1-mile bike and a 0.4-mile run for the youngest participants to a 300-meter swim, 3.8- mile bike and a 2-mile run for the 13 year olds.
“We wanted to keep it as a low-keyed event this first year to get our feet wet,” said race director Bryan Boggs. “We pulled off a successful triathlon with the help of a number of volunteer parents and pool workers.”
The Zionsville finishers were: 7- and 8-year-olds Alexa Holl, Megan Wagner, Kelsey Rasche, Antonia Schafer, Claire Brewer, Olivia Duncan, Andrew Schuler, Carson Alldredge, Aaron Williams and Ethan Crone; 9- and 10-year-olds Lauren Cross, Emma Wagner, Austin Williams, Nicholas Gehring, Matthew Carr, Grant Barrett, James Haydock; 11- and 12-year olds Becca Carr, Macey Lynn, Beau Boggs, Jackson Sugar, Rex Barrett, Logan Wagner, Michael Miller, Austin Simpson, Guerin Wagner and Charlie Hicks.
