---- — The wrestling season will continue for two Zionsville wrestlers. Zionsville seniors Jacob Aven and Christian Warner both placed third on Feb. 15 at the New Castle Semi-State, earning them berths in the state finals at Banker's Life Fieldhouse on Feb. 21-22. The other four Zionsville wrestlers who competed — Azariah Ellis, Preston Mantel, Sam Kern and Drew Hobick — saw their seasons come to an end. "Overall, we wrestled pretty well," Zionsville head coach Bob Brennan said. "We had a couple of tough draws but the kids went out there and gave it their best. We got three past the first round, with Jacob, Christian and Drew Hobick and Drew ran into a really tough kid in the ticket round. Overall I am proud of all of them. I'm disappointed for Preston. He made it last year and battled hard to get back this year and ran into a tough kid from Perry Meridian that he has faced three times in semi-state now. He went after it and wrestled hard, it just wasn't enough." Aven made it to state for the second-straight year. The ninth-ranked wrestler in the 195-pound class defeated Devin Mitts of East Central 21-9 in the opening round, then defeated Bryant White of Anderson 18-6 in the ticket round to earn his trip to state.
