Recent Zionsville graduate Andrew Dakich went back in time Friday, June 7, when he played in the Hoosier Reunion All-Star Classic. \The game was played in Knightown’s Hoosier Gym — which served as the home of the fictional Hickory Huskers in the movie “Hoosiers.”
“I have probably seen it more than most people,” Dakich said of the movie. “I never thought I would have a chance to play here. I said last year my goal was to come play in this. I heard it was a lot of fun from people who have played in it.”
Dakich’s Hickory team lost to Terhune 143-133 in double overtime.
It was the first overtime game in the history of the event on the boys side.
The game featured some of the top players in the state of Indiana — including 15 Division I recruits and 10 Indiana All-Stars.
Dakich, who will walk on at NCAA runner-up Michigan next season, said playing in a game with that much talent was enjoyable.
“It was fun; everyone was competing,” Dakich said.
