---- — The Zionsville boys basketball team continued their impressive win streak Friday, Jan. 31.

The Eagles held off HCC-foe Avon 54-52 to move to 11-2 and register their 10th-straight win.

"I thought both teams played extremely well on offense," Zionsville head coach Shaun Busick said. "It was a two-point margin, but they hit a 50-footer at the buzzer. I always felt like we were in control, they never really had control of the game, but they just wouldn't go away. We had really good ball movement, we took care of the ball and we shot the ball well. When those things happen you are probably going to win."

The Eagles led 16-15 after a quarter of play.

Avon took the lead 18-16 early in the second quarter, but after two free throws and a basket from Derrik Smits, the Eagles took a 20-18 lead and never trailed again.

The hosts led by three at the half, and took a 12-point lead midway through the third quarter on a basket by Chris Pappas, only to see Avon close the quarter on a 13-2 run to cut the lead to 43-42 after three.

Zionsville was never able to pull away in the fourth, but Busick said he liked his team's composure down the stretch.

"I liked the way we played in crunch time and really I liked the way we played the whole game," Busick said. "We moved the ball well and we defended well. They hit 11 3s in the game and we were still able to pull it out, which is a good sign for us. Our composure down the stretch was really good and during this winning streak we are moving the ball as well as we have since I have been here."
