---- — The Indy Fusion are the 2013-2014 16U/JV Division Heartland Tier II Girls Hockey End of Season Jamboree Champions after entering the championship round as the No. 1 seed.
They defeated the St. Louis Cyclones 3-1 in the championship game Sunday afternoon, March 2, in East Alton, Ill. Zionsville’s Kate Duckworth, an eighth-grader at Zionsville Middle School, scored the game-winning goal in the championship game.
Zionsville’s Rachel Wasem, a sophomore at Zionsville Community High School, scored the game-winning goal in the 2-1 semi-final victory over the St. Louis Midwest Mustangs Sunday morning.
The tournament included two teams from St. Louis, Mo., and teams from Kansas City, Mo., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Springfield, Ill., Nashville, Tenn., and Cincinnati, Ohio. The Fusion defeated the Cedar Rapids Lady Rough Riders 4-0 on Saturday, and topped the Nashville Girls Flyers 3-1 on Friday.
Last year in the Midwest Divisional Heartland Girls Ice Hockey Tournament, Indy Fusion entered the championship round as the No. 1 seed and finished second to the Omaha Lady Lancers.
