Track season begins over Spring Break

The Zionsville boys track and field team held a dual meet against Franklin on April 1 for all the athletes that stayed in town over Spring Break.

The team was led by three victories apiece by Griffen Conner and Josh Hinkle.

Conner individually won the long jump with a jump of 19-feet-2-inches. Hinkle was third in the event with a jump of 17-feet-1.25-inches.

The duo teamed together to help win two relays. They teamed with Coleton Smith and Max Duque to win the 400-meter relay in a time of 45.6 and with Owen Conner and Brock Bishop to win the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 3:51.3.

Individually, Hinkle won the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.2. Duque was third in the event with a time of 11.9.

The Eagles got a win in the 1,600-meter run from Ryan Cash, who ran a time of 4:42.2. Thomas Argentine was third in the event in a time of 5:04.2

Kyle Munz led a 1-2-3 finish in the 3,200-meter run. Munz ran 10:53.5 to win. Spencer Golde placed second in a time of 11:43.6 and Jared Nielson placed third in a time of 12:44.2.

The final event winner was Meesam Zaheer, who won the 110-meter high hurdles in a time of 18.3 seconds. Zaheer placed second in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 52.5 seconds.

Griffen Conner placed second in the 200-meter dash in a time of 24.8 seconds, 0.1 seconds ahead of Bishop, who placed third. Josh Becker placed second in the 400-meter dash in a time of 57.0. Owen Conner placed third in the event in a time of 58.1 seconds.

Nielson placed second in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:32.9.

Pierce Weingartner led the team in the shot put, throwing 40-feet-5.5-inches. Ken Walter threw 39-feet-6-inches and Patrick Bear threw 36-feet-11-inches.

Noah Gioscio had the top throw in the discus, throwing 102-feet-9-inches. Teddy Lupinski threw 102-feet-8.5-inches and Weingartner threw 101-feet-5-inches.

Both the boys and girls track and field teams will host Brebeuf on April 9 at 5 p.m.
