Track and field sweeps Brebeuf

The Zionsville track and field teams swept Brebeuf Wednesday, April 9. The boys won 90-41 and the girls won 96-36. On the boys’ side, Joey Lupinski, Oliver Rigg and CJ Anyaebunam were all double winners in individual events. Lupinski won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.87 and the 300-meter hurdles in 41.65. Rigg won the 1,600-meter run in 4:30.68 and the 800-meter run in 2:02.45. Anyaebunam won the 400-meter dash in a time of 50.73 and the 200-meter dash in 22.74. Also winning on the boys’ side: Taylor Allen won the 100-meter dash in 11.79, Jake Manusky won the high jump in 6-feet-0-inches, Teddy Lupinski won the discus throw in 112-feet-03-inches and Pierce Weingartner won the shot put in 41-feet-11-inches. The boys' 400-meter relay team of Chandler Orbaugh, Joshua Geiser, Jake Manusky and Tyler Olson was victorious in a time of 48.26. Other individual top-3 finishes for the boys: Mitch Miller (second, 100-meter dash, 12.03), Griffen Conner (third, 100-meter dash, 12.11), Taylor Allen (second, 200-meter dash, 24.13), Marco Woods (third, 200-meter dash 25.16), Burk Edwards (second, 400-meter dash, 53.87), Ryan Cash (second, 1,600-meter run, 4:32.18), Meesam Zaheer (third, 110-meter hurdles, 18.63), Tyler Olson (third, 300-meter hurdles, 51.57), Kent Walter (second, shot put, 40-08.50), Patrick Bear (third, shot put, 36-08.25), Tyler Klein (second, discus, 105-04), Pierce Weingartner (third, discus, 104-11), James Sheridan (second, high jump, 5-02), Beau LaJoie (second, pole vault, 11-06), Kyle Sheehan (third, pole vault, 11-00), Jake Manusky (second, long jump, 19-08.50), Griffen Conner (third, long jump, 19-04.75). For the girls, Courtney Gietle, Sydney Meyers and Carlie Vannatta were all double winners. Gietle won the 100-meter hurdles in 18.12 and the 300-meter hurdles in 55.63. Meyers won the 1,600-meter run in 5:25.55 and the 800-meter run in 2:26.42. Vannatta won both throwing events, winning the discus with a throw of 109-feet-05-inches and the shot put with a throw of 32-feet-02.50-inches. Also winning individual events for the girls: Dariah Rice won the 400-meter dash in 1:03.27, Samantha Mitchell won the 3,200-meter run in 12:01.03, Emily Wilson won the high jump with a jump of 5-feet-2-inches, Eva Stachler won the pole vault with a jump of 7-feet-6-inches and Emma Bleakman won the long jump with a jump of 15-feet-8.25-inches. Also winning were the girls 3,200-meter relay and the girls 1,600-meter relay. No names of the participants were available. Other individual top-3 finishes for the girls: Dariah Rice (third, 100-meter dash, 13.99), Caroline Horn (third, 200-meter dash, 30.62), Marianna Kastberg-Leonard (second, 400-meter dash, 1:05.62), Becca Uebele (second, 800-meter run, 2:26.74), Cally Sampson (third, 800-meter run, 2:36.05), Samantha Mitchell (second, 1,600-meter run, 5:34.21), Nina O'Neil (third, 1,600-meter run, 5:46.13), Alicia Bostwick (second, 3,200-meter run, 12:42.23), Caroline Peters (third, 100-meter hurdles, 19.05), Paige Harder (third, 300-meter hurdles, 57.92), Kali Barlow (third, shot put, 27-05.5), Maddie McMahon (second, discus, 84-07), Kali Barlow (third, discus, 79-10), Emma Bleakman (second, high jump, 4-08), Paige Harder (third, high jump, 4-08), Jasmine Rorie (second, pole vault, 6-06), Natasha Lang (third, pole vault, 6-06). Both teams will be in the Franklin Central Distance Showcase on April 18. The girls team will go to the Midwest Prep Meet on April 19, while the boys will go to the Ben Davis Relays on April 19.
