Battle Ground —
The good news for Adam Wood Friday, June 7, at the Lafayette Jefferson Regional at Battle Ground was that he was advancing to the state finals.
The bad news was it wasn’t the way he wanted to go. Wood was the regional medalist with a 2-under 70, but the team finished two shots away from advancing.
“It feels nice to play well individually,” Wood said. “I know I left some shots out there, but I am part of the team. Where the team finished is kind of disappointing, I think they would all say that. But all in all, it was a pretty good season, and we will build off it next year.”
Wood said he would do anything to help the Eagles play at the Legends of Indiana in Franklin, the home of the state championships, for the third-straight season.
“It is bittersweet; I would so much rather be moving on with them,” Wood said. “If I could sacrifice individual just to have the team go, I would do it in a heartbeat. This team is everything to me. We are so close, we have such great friendships, and it is just a little disappointing to see it turn out this way. But now I will just do my best individually and represent Zionsville well.”
