The Lebanon Merchants suffered their first loss of the season Saturday, June 15, in the first game of a double header against the Midwest Tomahawks.
But they responded well to the adversity, winning the next three contests to improve to 10-1 on the season.
“I wondered how we would react to our first loss,” Lebanon manager Ron Ebert said. “You never know how a team will react. Will they fall and hit rock bottom like a snake’s belly? Or come back and fight like a caged tiger? Our team reacted the right way.”
The Merchants actually led 6-1 after four innings in the seven-inning game in Game 1 Saturday, but the Tomahawks came back to tie it in the seventh.
After Lebanon scored twice in the eighth inning, the Tomahawks got three in the bottom half to win.
In game two, the Merchants trailed late, but got a rally going to win the game 8-7.
Sunday, June 16, against the Bloomington Stars, the Merchants trailed 3-1 in the seventh.
