— The Zionsville track teams had busy weeks coming off spring break.

The boys team had four different meets. Wednesday, April 10, they placed second in a three-way meet with Southport and Indianapolis Tech.

Southport won with 63 points, followed by Zionsville’s 54.

“This meet was good to shake the rust off as we get into the big part of our regular season,” Zionsville head coach Gabe Porras said. “Our high jumpers and pole vaulters had a very solid meet.”

The Eagles got a win from the 3,200-meter relay team of Joe Witter, Tyler Keen, Ryan Cash and Ty Abbitt, who finished in 8:33.9.

Alex Sibila and Josh Woodard placed 1-2 in the high jump. Both Eagles jumped 6-0, with Sibila having fewer misses.

The Eagles also went 1-2-3 in the pole vault thanks to the efforts of Colton Manusky (14-0), Beau LaJoie (11-0) and Kyle Sheehan (11-0).

Friday, April 12, Jimmy Morrison placed ninth in the discus at the Warren Central Thrower’s Showcase, throwing 132-2.

Also Friday, Oliver Rigg, Kyle Munz and Ryan Conrad ran in the Flashes Showcase at Franklin Central. Rigg placed third and Munz 19th in the freshmen mile, while Conrad placed 35th in the varsity mile.

“Since the discus was canceled Wednesday (because of weather), it was good for Jimmy to get this in and compete well,” Porras said. “Oliver and Kyle raced very well and finished in the top half of the field, which bodes well for their careers.”
