Fishers came into Jan. 18’s game against Zionsville looking for revenge for their sectional loss to the Eagles last year.
And when they left the court, the nets were still on fire. The Tigers shot 55 percent from behind the arc to beat the Eagles 67-53 in a game that was not even that close.
Fishers’ seniors Sean Lonergan and Jaylon Brown led the Tigers with 20 points and 15 points respectively. Junior Devin Chaudion added 16 points as well.
The Eagles were led by senior Andrew Dakich, who scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Eagles’ coach Shaun Busick said Fishers was simply the better basketball team right now.
“Quite frankly,” Busick said. “They just overpowered us tonight. They were far and away the better basketball team.”
The Tigers got off to a fast start by hitting two 3-pointers and hitting one fast break layup to go up 8-0 with 5:32 left in the first quarter.
The Eagles finally got on the board with a layup by junior Michael Sollman to make the score 8-2 with 5:25 left in the quarter.
From there, it only got worse.
