Strong senior core leads girls

Zionsville — The Zionsville girls lacrosse team is working hard to be ready for the season opener March 21, even if Mother Nature hasn’t always cooperated.

Despite not seeing a lot of her team in an outdoor setting, head coach Missy Stringham said the goals for the team are simple — keep getting better.

“It has been interesting since we really can’t see what we are going to be doing because we haven’t been outside,” Stringham said.

Stringham got to see her team in action against another team for the first time Saturday, March 9, in a couple of scrimmages at Cathedral.

Overall, she liked what she saw.

“It was great for us to actually play today, because this was only our fourth day to be outside the entire spring,” Stringham said. “It was good to see how big the field is and things like that. While we have a big group of returners, we also have a group that has never seen a varsity field, so it was good for them to get this practice in an unstressful environment. It was good experience, just like practice but with referees against another team.”

Leadership will not be an issue with the Eagles this season.
