After one of their toughest losses of the season, the Zionsville boys lacrosse team put it all together in their regular season finale Saturday, May 10.
The Eagles topped Center Grove 21-2 to end their regular season 11-5 and 9-2 against teams from Indiana.
"I was very happy with the way we played," Zionsville head coach Matt Garvey said. "It was senior day so it always get to get them on the field and to play the way we did. We talked to the younger guys about honoring the seniors and it was cool not only talk about how they wanted to go it, but then showed it on the field."
Earlier in the week, the Eagles lost to Carmel 16-5.
Garvey said that the Eagles had to make some adjustments.
"We did some different things offensively, we had a little bit of a different look," Garvey said. "We were a lot better off draws. Alex Cain did a great job again in the center faceoff and when we got the ball into the zone we capitalized."
Matt Welch had four goals in the win. Cameron Bender, Ben Sherman and Cameron Wilson all had three.
Alex Cain, Luke Whitaker, Spencer Beebe, Gavin Klinkose, Tucker Dixon, Hunter Vorbroker, Nick Kuller and Jake Nutter all added tallies as well.
"It was great to see the guys turn it around," Garvey said. "We talked after the (Carmel) game that losing is tough, but we had to make a positive out of it. We refocused and we learned from it. Our effort is going to be key to every game."
The Eagles honored their nine seniors before the game: Beebe, Cain, Ben Gould, Nick Perkins, Jake Presley, Nate Reinhart, Sherman, Whitaker and Wilson.
