The Zionsville boys golf teams had a good showing at the tough Lafayette Jefferson Invitational Saturday, May 31 at Battle Ground.
In a field that featured six ranked teams, the fourth-ranked Eagles placed third with a 315.
No. 6 Carmel won with a 311 and No. 1 Hamilton Southeastern was second with a 314.
Zionsville head coach Steve Simmons said the greens are what made the course set-up a challenge on Saturday afternoon.
"I think initially there was a lot of disappointment from the coaches and players as the scores were coming in," Simmons said. "But the greens were really bumpy and slow. There weren't many holed putts out there. The course played a little tougher than normal, the wind was just enough to cause a few problems."
Battle Ground will be where the regional will be held in a couple of weeks.
While they play in a tough sectional, both Lebanon and Zionsville will have good chances of being there.
Simmons said it was good to see the course before the post-season started.
