Girls swimmingand divingThe Zionsville girls swimming and diving team started the 2013-14 season off Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Noblesville.

The Lady Eagles got off to a strong start, topping the Millers 107-79.

Zionsville won 10 of the 12 events on the night.

Alex Cleveland, Taite Kitchel and Kylie Mihok all had four event wins for Zionsville.

Cleveland and Kitchel partnered with Zoe Guckien and Cally Sampson to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:51.62.

Kitchel was part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team with Emma Bumbar, Gretta DeCoursey and Mihok, winning in 1:40.41.

Cleveland and Mihok were part of the victorious 400-yard freestyle relay team with DeCoursey and Anna Savery in a time of 3:39.67.

Cleveland won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.63, with DeCoursey placing second in the event. Cleveland also won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 58.76, with Sampson and Sarah Luciani finishing second and third respectively for a 1-2-3 finish.

Kitchel was the victor in the 200-yard IM, winning in a time of 2:05.51. She also won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:07.77.

Mihok won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:55.62 and the 100-yard freestyle in 53.61. DeCoursey placed second in the 100-yard freestyle to give Zionsville a 1-2 finish.

The final Zionsville winner was Audrey Battisti, who won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.47.

The 1-0 Eagles hosted McCutcheon Tuesday, Nov. 26, and will host Brownsburg Dec. 3.

Zionsville boys basketballThe Zionsville boys basketball team was supposed to open up the 2013-14 season Wednesday, Nov. 27, against Brebeuf. But due to the success of the Brebeuf football team, the game has been postponed.

The match up will now take place Feb. 22 and will serve as Zionsville’s Senior Night.

The Eagles will now open the season Dec. 6 when they host Westfield. The Eagles will then be in action the next night at Western Boone.

Both games are scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

In a field of eight schools, including top-ranked Westfield, the Eagles won the tournament for the second-straight year, shooting a 300. Westfield placed second with a 315.

  • Golf team places 5th at Hall of Fame The Zionsville boys golf team tested themselves right out of the gate April 12, facing off against a strong field in the Hall of Fame Tournament at Rock Hollow Golf Course. The Eagles placed fifth in the tournament, shooting a team score of 333.
