Zionsville senior Alex Cleveland will be heading to the SEC to start her collegiate swimming career.
Cleveland had a signing ceremony Nov. 21 at the Zionsville pool to sign her national letter of intent to swim at the University of Tennessee.
"It was a big stress reliever," Cleveland said. "I am really, really happy. I couldn't be happier with my decision, but also I didn't realize how stressful it was. It was so much fun, I would do it again in a heartbeat, but it is good to know where I am going to continue swimming."
Cleveland said that she also consider Purdue and Harvard before selecting Tennessee.
She said that Tennessee felt like home.
"I really liked their balance of athletics and academics," Cleveland said. "They are a really good swimming school, but there coaches definitely stress academics -- academics definitely come first on their team. Their team felt like a family to me and it was somewhere I fit in."
