---- — The Zionsville wrestling team started the 2013-14 season off on a high note Nov. 23.
The Eagles went 5-0 and won the Super Duals at Western High School.
"It definitely was a good start for the team," Zionsville head coach Bob Brennan said. "We felt like this was a tournament we should be able to compete at and do well. We had four kids that went undefeated on the day, but everyone won at least a couple of matches so we were really happy about that. It is just a good start. We practiced three weeks straight and we want to give the kids a chance to go out and try some of the stuff we have worked on in practice and give them a chance to wrestle somebody other than their teammates."
The Eagles started the day off with a 57-11 victory over Western Boone.
Zionsville then beat Delta 51-25, Leo 41-28, Fishers 46-21 and closed the day with a 52-26 win over Western.
Western Boone and Fishers are both teams that will appear in the Eagles' sectional.
Brennan said he liked facing potential sectional opponents during the season.
"We like to see those sectional opponents early," Brennan said. "We actually will see Western Boone at the Eagle Invite and will see Fishers in a dual. It is definitely nice to get an opportunity to see what they are doing so we have an idea later in the year. We really liked seeing other teams too. That Leo team was a solid squad and we have never wrestled them or Western before. Good to see people from other areas."
