---- — Zionsville senior baseball player Travis Tokarek thought he wanted to go to college a little ways away from Zionsville.

But after visiting the University of Evansville, Tokarek decided to stay in the Hoosier State. Tokarek signed his national letter of intent Friday, Nov. 22 in a signing ceremony with teammate Ben Kocher at Zionsville High School.

"Just the atmosphere," Tokarek said when asked what stood out about Evansville. "At first I wanted to go a little further away from home, but it ended up being perfect. It is far enough away that my parents won't be coming down every week, but it isn't too far to where I can't come home at all."

Tokarek said it was nice to officially end the recruiting process before his senior season.

Now he can focus on his senior season.

"It is fun and you can have a sigh of relief to know where you are going before I play my senior year," Tokarek said. "This year I can focus on getting better so I'm ready to play my freshman year."
