It didn't take long for the Zionsville football team to find a replacement for departed head coach Larry McWhorter.
Pat Echeverria, who has been the head coach at Eastern Hancock High School the past three seasons, was officially approved by the school board Monday, Dec. 9.
"Zionsville is obviously an unbelievable community and school system," Echeverria said in a phone interview. They have had great tradition of football as well."
Echeverria was 23-14 as the head coach of the Royals.
The team was 1-9 the year before Echeverria got the job. All three seasons the team improved, going 3-7, 6-6 and then 14-1 in his three seasons.
This past year, he led Eastern Hancock to the state title game.
