The Zionsville Lady Eagles girls basketball team knew the task wasn’t going to be easy when they traveled to face Hamilton Heights Saturday, Nov. 17.
And although the Eagles suffered their second lopsided defeat in a row to a top 3A opponent, there were many positives to take away from the 61-31 loss.
“We played hard, and I thought we improved,” Zionsville head coach Andy Maguire said. “We told our kids coming into the game, that when you look at our schedule, this was probably one of the top five teams on it. They won 21 games last year and have everyone back. They are a good basketball team. I thought we competed much better. We can’t score like we need to yet, but our defense, rebounding and overall toughness was better tonight.”
Hamilton Heights and Lebanon — the Eagles previous opponent — are both ranked in the top-eight in Class 3A.
