Eagles' season ends in controversial fashion
For a brief moment, the partisan crowd at the ZYSA Championship Field erupted in cheers, as it appeared the Zionsville Lady Eagles soccer team had kept its season alive when Hannah Timbrook scored a tying goal with just 1:36 remaining.
But as quickly as the crowd had erupted in cheers, they started booing as the far-side assistant referee ruled the play to be off-sides. The call stood and Avon held on to beat Zionsville 1-0.

Defense dominates in ZCHS 27-3 win
It was a bittersweet night at Zionsville Community High School. Not only was it senior night for 29 seniors on the football team, it was the final regular season home game for coach Larry McWhorter. McWhorter entered with 150-58 record in 18 seasons that included seven sectional titles and the 1996 state championship.
Zionsville advances to title game with 2-1 win
There was no letdown for the Zionsville girls soccer team Thursday night after beating top-ranked ranked Carmel in the sectional opener on Tuesday.
Historic ending for girls golf
While it may not have been the state championship they hoped for entering the weekend, the IHSAA Girls Golf State Finals were still extremely successful for the Zionsville girls golf team.
Shooting a two-day total of 639 (322-317), the Eagles placed third overall — their best finish in school history.
Zionsville gets redemption against Lebanon
Neither the Lebanon nor Zionsville tennis teams were going to pack it in easily in their sectional title match Friday evening, Oct. 4, in Lebanon.
But in a match that lasted more than 3 1/2 hours, Zionsville managed a 3-2 win to win the sectional title over Lebanon.
Runners have good showing at conference
The soggy conditions didn’t slow down the Zionsville cross country teams Saturday, Oct. 5, at the HCC meet held at Noblesville’s White River Elementary School.
Eagles golf makes history, wins regional
The fourth-ranked Zionsville girls golf team made history Saturday, Sept. 28, at Smock Golf Course in Indianapolis.
The Eagles shot a 309, the best the school has ever shot at Smock by 31 shots, and won the Roncalli Regional championship by two shots over second-ranked Carmel. The win advanced Zionsville to the state finals for the fourth-straight season.
Lady Eagle harriers look to make history
The Zionsville girls cross country team has never qualified for the state finals.
If the first half of the season is any indication, that is going to change very soon. The Lady Eagles are continuing to climb up the polls thanks to repeated strong finishes and are ranked fourth in the state.
Eagles too much for Harrison
The Zionsville football team used good, old-fashion smashmouth football Friday night in their HCC match-up with Harrison.
