Community calendar for April 30
Run the Anti-Mini Marathon The third annual Zionsville Anti-Mini Marathon will begin at 7:25 a.m. Saturday, May 3, rain or shine. The starting line is the picnic table at the entrance to Nancy Burton Memorial Park. Parking is at the Zionsville Town Hall. No registration is required and there is no fee. Participants are encouraged to decorate old Indianapolis Mini-Marathon T-shirts with an Anti-Mini theme. Participants may run or walk 3.2, 6.4, 9.6, 12.8 or 13.1 miles. Those completing 13.1 miles will receive a cash reward. Leashed dogs are allowed. Call Budd Glassberg at 873-0100 or go to www.runz.com for more information.

Residents’ group hosts finance head Mike Shaffer, chief financial officer for the Zionsville Community Schools, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at the Village Residents’ Association meeting at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center, 225 W. Hawthorne St. Shaffer will take questions on the school portion of Zionsville property taxes and how the new property tax system will impact the schools. The public is welcome to attend.

SullivanMunce hosts spring break camp The SullivanMunce Cultural Center will host “The Magic of Color,” a spring break camp, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from Monday, March 31 to Friday, April 4. Cost is $180 for members and $195 for non-members. Children will explore the magic of color using prisms, color wheels and flashlights. They will mix their own paint, create sculpture from found objects and make clay and ceramic vessels. Snacks are provided; students should bring a sack lunch with drink each day. Federal judge speaks to economics club United States Southern District Court Judge David Hamilton will be the speaker at the Zionsville Community High School Economics Club Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, in the ZCHS LGI room. Dinner is $10 for students, $15 for adults and begins at 6 p.m. Hamilton will speak at 6:30 p.m., discussing his work with citizens of Burma (Myanmar) as they hope to install a democratic system of government when the current military collapses. Lions Club announces egg hunt The Zionsville Lions Club and Zionsville Times Sentinel will host an EGGnormous Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, in Lions Park. Free breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. and Mik the Music Man will perform at 9:30 a.m. Following the egg hunt (by age groups) an airplane will drop ping pong balls that can be redeemed for prizes at local merchants.
