Drop Christmas Trees at Starkey Park

Zionsville residents may take their Christmas trees to the Starkey Park parking lot (off Sugarbush Drive) from now until Jan. 19. The trees will be chipped into mulch and given to Zionsville residents. Only trees may be dropped off. No wreaths, roping, tree stands, ornaments, plastic, nails or wire will be accepted. Call the Zionsville Parks and Recreation Department at 733-2273 for more information.



Arts club meets Friday

The Village Arts & Study Club will meet at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9 at Hoosier Village, 5300 W. 96th St., Indianapolis. The hostess is Mary Catherine Sample. Call 873-4712 for more information.



Programs at Zion Nature Center

The Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech St., will have several classes and events this month. Call the Nature Center at 873-8950 or visit www.zionnaturecenter.org for more information or to register for classes.

• It’s a Snow Day! — 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 10 and 11. All ages. Join us for a cup of hot chocolate as we have some fun with snow crafts, stories and games. Free.

• Water Management for Gardeners — 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15. Adults. The program will cover how a gardener can positively affect the quality and quantity of the local water supply. This slide presentation by Myrene Brown will cover rain barrels, green roofs, water-friendly garden practices and Myrene’s personal favorite, the rain garden. Free. Please register on the Nature Center Web site.

• Puppet Show: “Frosty and the Forest Animals.” — 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan 17. Ages 2 and older. Enjoy this fun nature-themed puppet show about “Frosty the Snowman,” presented by Diane Breier and her puppet pals. Free.

• New Exhibit: Mammals on the Move — through February. Get a close-up view of the collection of taxidermy mammals, mammal puppets and toys in this interactive, fun and educational exhibit for even the little ones. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Zionsville.
