Community calendar for Feb. 18


• Public Meeting — Thursday, Feb. 19, Lora Hussey Room. Policy and Personnel Committees, 6 p.m.; board meeting with president of Lebanon Public Library, 6:30 p.m., regular monthly board meeting, 7:30; executive session of the library board, immediately following regular board meeting.

• Knitting 101 — 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, ages 8 to 12. Learn the art of knitting, including how to cast on, the knit stitch and how to bind off. Bring size 8 knitting needles. Yarn will be provided.

Summer travel offered to middle-schoolers

At 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, in Room 615 of Zionsville West Middle School, there will be a meeting of parents of Zionsville sixth-, seventh- or eighth-graders interested in an 11-day trip this June to Germany, Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic. Women’s Club of Zionsville to meet

Gay Burkhart will be hostess for the 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, meeting of the Women’s Club of Zionsville. Assisting her will be Mrs. Diney Wharry.

The program will be “Chicken Soup for the Golden Soul: Heartwarming Stories,” and will be given by Mrs. Kathie Lingafelter.

American Legion hosts pizza night

Pizza Night will take place at American Legion Post No. 79 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at the legion hall, 9950 E. County Road 600 South. Sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary, the evening features pizza, barbecue pizza, bread sticks, Disney movies and board games for the children. The cost is $9.

Firefighter’s ball returns

This year’s Zionsville Fire Department Firefighter’s Ball & Awards Banquet begins with cocktails at 6 p.m. and the ball at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Palomino Ballroom, 481 S. County Road 1200 East in Zionsville.

This semi-formal evening will include hand-carved beef, parmesan crusted chicken, shrimp shooters, gourmet chocolate favors, ZFD awards, silent auction items, dancing and drinks in a custom ZFD glass.
