Memorial Library events

The Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library, 250 N. Fifth St., has several upcoming events. Registration is required for each children’s class and some adult programs. Call 873-3149 to register.

• Iron Man — 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, ages 7 to 12. Hands-on experiments and games will be featured.

• Library closes early — The library will close at 5 p.m. March 19 to allow staff to attend the annual recognition dinner.

• Animal Adventure Series: Salamanders — 1 p.m. Friday, March 27 for ages 3 to 6, with a parent. Meet at the library for storytime fun and then walk to the Nature Center to learn about the real animals.

Lenten program offered

The Wings Ladies Club of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 W. Oak St. Zionsville, is hosting a portrayal of Peter, the fisherman, by professional storyteller, Larry Holycross at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12. This is a one-man monologue of Peter’s encounters with Jesus prior to Pentecost.

Village Arts and Study Club to meet

The Village Arts and Study Club will meet at 10 a.m. Friday, March 13. Hostess is Nancy Kuper; speaker is Sue Ritz, director, Boone County Senior Services. Call Nancy at 873-4712 for more information.

Community theater puts on “The Chalk Garden”

“The Chalk Garden,” by British playwright Enid Bagnold, will be the first play of the 2009 season for Center Stage Community Theater of Lebanon. The production will run Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. from March 13 through March 29 at CSCT, 604 Powell St., Lebanon. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors.

Turn trash into craft

The Zion Nature Center, 690 Beech St., will have Trash to Craft from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 14 and 15, all ages. Drop by any time as we convert “trash to craft” from items you might otherwise throw away. This free event will give you the opportunity to learn creative ways to recycle those old crayons, puzzles, cardboard, and more.
